Booming China

China is a booming nation with over 5000 years of history and culture. They also are hosting the next Summer Olympics and host the next Total Solar Eclipse of the Sun. There has never been a more exiting time to travel to China.

Total Eclipse if the Sun

My first experience in Totality was in Antalya, Turkey 2006. The Total eclipse of the sun in an amazing experience that occurs once every few years. Sometime the weather doesn’t cooperate, sometimes they are in the middle of the arctic. On August 1 2008 Totality will travel southeast threw Mongolia and Northern China. The town of Xiah will be a good place to stay.

The Olympics

The Summer Olympics are also taking place in August. Most of the events will be in\around Beijing. I had the pleasure of living in Atlanta during the 1996 games. They are an amazing event, with people from all over the world in attendance. It remains to be seen how the new China will pull this off.

Travel in China

It is highly recommended that you go on a tour is you can afford it. If not try to travel with someone who can speak the language fluently. China can be an intimidating place. If you plan to go for the Eclipse and the Olympics things could be hectic.
